Among the many Sherborn History Center & Museum’s 350th programs is a digital effort called Sherborn Stories. Created to dramatically increase our digital history presence, this is a crowd-sourced, community-wide effort to connect past & present through local stories of all scopes and sizes. 2024 MASS HISTORY CONFERENCE

The nineteenth annual Mass History Conference, History Is For Everyone, will bring together people from all walks of life to engage in historical practice and to champion inclusivity in our historical landscape. For millennia, history has been recorded through the lens of the privileged few – captured and controlled by the elite in private ivory towers. We now know that the best history work requires collective engagement, collaborative efforts, and diverse perspectives. This year’s conference will showcase stories about Massachusetts’ diverse communities and spotlight the projects and skills that give us models for telling these stories.

Discovering New England Stonewalls With Kevin Gardner

Kevin’s informal talk covers a few of the main topics of his book about New England stone walls, The Granite Kiss (Countryman Press), touching on history, technique, stylistic development, and aesthetics. He explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they and other dry stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed overtime, and their significance to the famous New England landscape.
